The idea for my trip germinated when I first saw my friend’s sports car in a field on the Isle of Wight. She was leaving for New Zealand and the car was for sale – a pale blue Fiat Bertone popsy of ancient vintage, in good condition but a little frayed at the edges. This description could also be applied to me, so I was sure we were meant for each other.
Bringing Vagabond Shoes into existence as a self-published book has been a steep learning curve. After winning a prize for the MS and getting a grant for the costs I felt I had to go ahead. If you have had similar experiences with self publising share them with others on this site.
So far Vagabond Shoes has been well received with comments such as ’absolutely riveting’, ‘funny and very entertaining’ and ‘highly enjoyable.’ You can also read a short review on Library Thing.
Please feel free to leave your own comments here or on the Desert Days page where you will find an extract from Chapter 8.
As well as a writing fiction and non-fiction, I teach a number of short courses. Please contact me at Chetwynd Books for further details.
